Abbotsford product Lucas Bogdan punched his ticket to the U.S. Amateur Championship on Monday, finishing tied for first at a sectional qualifier in Oregon.

Playing at Illahe Hills Country Club in Salem, Bogdan posted a 36-hole total of 143 to finish tied for top spot with Mike Barry of Medford, Ore. The performance ensured Bogdan’s second U.S. Amateur appearance – he teed up at the event last year as well.

Bogdan will join fellow Ledgeview golfer Nick Taylor in the U.S. Amateur field. Taylor, the world’s top-ranked amateur, received an exemption into the field. The U.S. Amateur runs Aug. 24-30 at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Okla.

As for Taylor, he missed the cut at the PGA Tour’s RBC Canadian Open last week, shooting 79-73 at Glen Abbey Golf Club. He’s off to Columbus, Ohio this week for the Children’s Hospital Invitational, a Nationwide Tour event. Taylor earned a spot in the field due to his status as an NCAA first team All-American.

Abbotsford’s Adam Hadwin notched his second victory on the Vancouver Golf Tour circuit, firing back-to-back rounds of 66 to win the Golden Ears Pro-Am at Pitt Meadows.

Hadwin, who finished four strokes ahead of runner-up Bryn Parry, earned $2,200 for his effort. With four VGT events left to play, he sits second in the tour’s order of merit standings with $7,875, trailing only Parry ($8,837.50). Hadwin’s first victory as a pro came earlier this month at the Ledgeview Men’s Open.
