Sandra Turbide turned in a record-tying performance on the weekend to claim her
second Ledgeview Ladies Amateur championship.
Turbide, a member of Swan-e-set Golf Club in Pitt Meadows, carded rounds of 71
and 73 to edge Karen Pultz by one stroke for the overall low gross title. Her
two-round total of 144 matched the previous tournament record, set by Laura
Kaufman in 1993.
Turbide shaved four strokes off her total from the last time she won the
Ledgeview Ladies Amateur, back in 2006.
The overall low net winner was Dharma Siwan of Vancouver’s Fraserview Golf
Course. Siwan, who was participating in her first-ever golf tournament, shot
rounds of 87 and 88. With an 18 handicap, her score netted out to 139.
Other low gross winners included Bev Mitchell (second flight, 173), Virginia
White (third flight, 186), and Ledgeview’s own Donna Kim (fourth flight, 201).
The low net winners included Holly Horwood (first flight, 141), Mary Evans
(second flight, 140), Joan Feaver of Ledgeview (third flight, 141) and Norma
Ridler (fourth flight, 145).
