J Calgary's Jordan Irwin Wins Pacific Coast Amateur
(Aug. 8/08)

It was his worst round of the tournament--he even bogeyed his final hole--however, coming off the majestic Royal Colwood Golf Club course with a round of par 70 and a 72-hole score of 9-under par 271 was exactly what Jordon Irwin needed to claim the 42nd Pacific Coast Amateur Championship and keep the coveted title in Calgary for the second year in a row.

Irwin's victory also presents Canada with some International prestige as a winner for the third time in the past six years. Defending champion Michael Knight of Calgary finished 6-over par in a tie for 36th. James Lepp of Abbotsford, BC, the first Canadian champion in 2003, is now a member of the Canadian professional Tour.

Defending Canadian Amateur champion Nick Taylor of Abbotsford , BC; Derek Tolan of Boulder, Colo., who led after nine holes today; and 2008 Southwestern Amateur champion Matt Hoffenberg of Simi Valley, Calif. tied for third at 274; Adam Hadwin tied for 6th.
