Abbotsford's Nick Taylor tied for second at this weekend's NCAA golf championships in West Lafayette, Ind.
Taylor led the University of Washington Huskies to a seventh-place finish in the season-ending event.
The 2007 Canadian Amateur champion closed with a three-over 75 on Saturday that left him three shots back of individual medallist Kevin Chappell of UCLA. Taylor shot the tournament's low round, a six-under 66, in Thursday's second round.
Taylor was attempting to become the second Abbotsford golfer and Ledgeview Golf Club member to win the NCAA title. James Lepp accomplished that feat in 2005.
UCLA finished the 72-hole tournament with a 42-over score of 1,194, one shot better than defending champion Stanford. The Huskies, whose five-man squad included another Fraser Valley resident -- Langley's Darren Wallace -- were 14 shots back of UCLA.
Abbotsford's Adam Hadwin, also a Ledgeview member, tied for 55th. Hadwin was playing for the University of Louisville, which placed 10th overall.
