Erv Froese wins the Canadian Left Handers
|
August 26 2007
Its been a great year for Ledgeview golfers and last week, another title came Abbotsford’s way when Erv Froese captured the Canadian Left Hander’s Tournament.
The event was held at Campbell River’s Storey Creek course on August 25th and 26th. Froese who has competed in past Canadian Championships, managed a fine 2 over par total to lead after day one. His nearest rival in this all Canada competition was strangely enough Dean Lewis from Chilliwack golf club.
As the competition came to a climax, Froese, playing in the last group, was able to stave off his valley opponent who was one group ahead. He survived the difficult weather to win the Overall Low Gross title by one stroke.
“I wanted to win the Seniors” said Froese but was very happy to come out tops overall. (Coincidently, his score did top the Senior list but the Overall Champion cannot win both titles.)
The win qualifies him for the World Event which will be held in Queeenstown, New Zealand in 2008.
In winning, Froese became the second Ledgeview golfer to win the Canadian Lefties title, Gordon Todd having won previously
Congratulations Erv!
