Ever wonder what those great young Abbotsford golfing prospects are doing these days and why we don't hear about them? They are writing their stories at Universities and Colleges across this continent.

Take Brett Webster, one of the Yale team who won 3 Provincial Championships in 4 years. This week he helped UBC win the NAIA Region 1 Championship at Christina Lake Golf Course, defeating UVIC by 3 strokes. Webster, a freshman, posted a remarkable recovery from his opening round 80 to shoot subsequent rounds of 74 and a five under par 66 in a final round flourish! UBC's team total of 279 qualifies them for the NAIA Championships which run May 22nd to 25th in Plymouth, Indiana.

Colby Lindsay, who lost the BC Junior at the 8th extra hole, is presently at the University of El Paso in Texas along with Josh Taylor who anchored Yale's first Provincial winning team. UTEP finished 7th recently at the Conference USA Championships at the Texarkana Country Club in Texarkana, Texas. Individually, Lindsay finished 22nd and is all-conference Academics with a 3.86 GPA. Taylor, who was 28the at CUSA has managed to establish himself in both golf and educational circles, making the all-conference Academic Team in this his junior year.

Adam Hadwin, in his sophomore year at the University of Louisiana in Kentucky, is having a very good year. Recently helping the University of Louisville's men's golf team record its first-ever conference championship by winning the 2007 BIG EAST Championships on April 24th at the Cardinal Club in Simpsonville, Kentucky. With the win, the Cardinals captured the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Regional's on May 17-19 at a site to be determined. The win was the Cardinals' seventh of the year and third this spring. The Cardinals ended Notre Dame's three-year reign as conference champions. Adam had a solid tournament and earned All-Conference accolades, firing 72-69-72=212 to finish in a tie for fifth place. He has played in all events for his team this year and 21 tournaments in a row since joining the Kentucky campus 2 years ago. He is currently ranked 306th in the world and his scoring average in all events is 73.23.

Reigning BC Junior Champion and Canadian Junior Champion, Nick Taylor is establishing himself in his freshman year at the University of Washington in Seattle. He has cracked the lineup in several tournaments and won the UBC Birds Invitational at Boundary Bay in October. He has played in 4 team events this year and recently finished 44th in the Pac 10 Championships played at Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Oregon. Taylor shot a 9 over 297 for 4 rounds on a tough golf course. He was recently inducted into the Abbotsford Sports Wall of fame along with his Yale team mates.
