Follow Ray Stewart's and James Lepp's progress at the Champions Tour & PGA Tour Q-Schools
|
During November 2006, Ledgeview Golf and Country Club was very proud to have two members competing at the PGA Tour and Champion's Tour Q-Schools. Ray Stewart advanced through the preliminary stage and qualified for the Champion's Tour Final stage. In this event he finished in second place overall. Ray is now eligible to play in the Monday qualifiers for all full field champion's Tour events in 2007.
.........more about Ray's plans for 2007
James Lepp played in the first stage of PGA Tour qualifying and successfully advanced to the second stage. Here he was unable to finish in the top 19 which would have enabled him to move on to the final stage of PGA Tour Qualifying.
We followed Ray and James' progress closely and their rounds are summarized below in more detail.
** CONGRATULATIONS RAY ** Ray Stewart: finished 2nd overall at Q-school and qualified for the 2007 Champion's Tour.
By finishing 2nd, Ray is now eligible for the Senior Tour, but his work has really just begun. The top 30 and ties at the end of this qualifing event are eligible to compete in weekly professional qualifiers held in conjunction with full-field Champions Tour events. Nine spots will be available in those Champions Tour events through the qualifiers. The Q-school participants will be joined in the qualifier by former PGA TOUR and Champions Tour players who meet pre-determined criteria. This means that Ray still has to qualify each week to get into a Champions Tour event, but the opportunity is there.
Nov. 18th Update:
In the final round, Ray shot another 3 under par score of 69 and finished the 4 round qualifier alone in second place. Ray has now qualified for the Champions Tour in 2007

At the final stage there will be a 36 hole cut, reducing the field to the top 70 and ties, plus any players who remain within 10 shots of 30th position. The top 30 and ties at the end of the qualifing event will then be eligible to compete in weekly professional qualifiers held in conjunction with open, full-field Champions Tour events. Nine spots will be available in those Champions Tour events through the qualifiers. The Q-school participants will be joined in the qualifier by former PGA TOUR and Champions Tour players who meet pre-determined criteria.
