Ledgeview's Nick Taylor Advances
at the Canadian Amateur
Fresh off of his dominating victory in the Canadian Junior Championships, Ledgeview's Nick Taylor has advanced to the match play portion of the Canadian Men's Amateur by shooting qualifying rounds of 71 and 73 for a two day total of 144. This left Nick in a group tied in 21st place, and allowed him to move on to the 64 man match play portion of the championship.

Nick's opening round match is against Marc Bourgeois, of Dieppe, NB, who is seeded 42nd. If you wish to follow the scores throughout the week, the RCGA has the draw posted on their web site and is maintaining live scoring at the following link:   Canadian Men's Amateur.

The Canadian Amateur is being played this year at the   Mississaugua Golf and Country Club,   in Mississauga, Ontario, from August 11th - 18th.



Nick's Match Play Progress:

Round of 64, Aug. 15th
Nick continued to ride the momentum of his walk away victory at last week’s Canadian Junior Boys Championship with a 4&3 victory over 2005 Amateur runner-up Marc Bourgeois of Dieppe, New Brunswick.   Marc was seeded 42.

Round of 32, Aug. 16th, AM Match
Nick's streak continued at Mississaugua Golf and Country Club as he beat out fellow National Junior team member Mitchell Fox of Okotoks, Alta. 1-UP in their morning match. The match showcased this country’s two most recent Canadian Junior Boys champions with the 2006 champ edging out his 2005 counterpart.

Round of 16, Aug. 16th, PM Match
In the afternoon matches, Nick bested Christopher Ross, of Dundas, Ontario, 4 up with 2 to play and advanced to the quarter finals. Nick's quarter final round starts at 7:40 AM Thursday morning.

Quarter Finals, Aug. 17th, AM Match
Nick's run at the Canadian Amateur Championships came to an end in the quarter finals today, as he lost on the first extra hole to Richard Scott, the defending champion. Richard is from Kingsville Ontario, and has won the amateur twice in the past three years.
