Ledgeview Men's Open Results
Consistency was the key for Bryn Parry at the Ledgeview Men's Open on the
weekend of June 30th /
July 2nd, 2006.
Parry, of North Shore's Seymour Creek Golf Centre, was under par in all three
rounds of the Open, which wrapped up Sunday. He followed a scorching
opening-round 65 with two rounds of 69 to claim a three-stroke victory and the
$2,000 winner's cheque.
Defending champion Phil Jonas and Abbotsford favourite Ray Stewart were hot on
Parry's heels. Jonas, of Vancouver's McCleery Golf Course, was two strokes up
on Parry after shooting 64 on Saturday, but struggled to a 74 on Sunday to
finish in second place with a score of 206.
Stewart was red-hot on Sunday as he fired a 63, but first place was out of
reach for the PGA Tour vet after his opening 74 on Friday. He finished tied for
second with Jonas.
Matt Paulsenberg was fourth in the pro division (66-74-68=208), while Jared
Boddy was fifth (69-70-71=210).
Ledgeview's Kevin Stinson used his knowledge of his home course to his
advantage, as he shot an even-par 210 over three days to take the amateur
title. Stinson out-lasted Jeremy Paradis and Greg Bismeyer on a one-hole
playoff to claim the victory.
Ledgview golfers dominated the second and third flights. Pat Differ (226) and
Barry Turchen (209) won the second flight low gross and low net events
respectively.
Alan Spetch (254) and Doug Ring (206) were tops in the low gross and low net in
the third flight, while Jim Murphy won the overall low net prize with a score
of 202.
Ledgeview's young golfers also did very well, as Ian Mulder, Lucas Bogdan, Cody
Kwak, Brett Stewart and Josh Taylor were among the 14 prize winners in the
first flight.
